CUWRFC edges by Princeton, 24-22

CUWRFC’s forward momentum continued when they took it to Princeton, New Jersey to battle sunburn, persistent wasps, and Princeton’s Lady Tigers. Princeton scored twice to start off the game, putting them up by 0-12 at the end of the first of three 30-minute periods. CUWRFC came back and started off the second period with a try by Amanda Leng-Smith (CC ’15) to make the score 5-12, leading to “some foul language […] from the Columbia flyhalf that is not twitter appropriate”. Princeton answered with a try of their own, making the score 5-17 to end the second period. In the third period, Kira Ullman (CC ’15) scored twice, once off a beautiful interception, and Arielle Napoli (BC ’15) scored once to tie CU with Princeton, 22-22. A ridiculous kick by Leng-Smith put Columbia up 24-22 to end the game at the end of three periods. Columbia’s combination of aggressive play, solid defense, pod work, stiff arms, rockin’ rookies, Caputo Family Cheering Section and intensity thorough out the entire 90 minutes of play contributed to this exciting win.
